Judge Kendig appointed in Canton
The United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit appointed Russ Kendig of Canton as United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Northern District of Ohio effective February 28, 2000. Judge Kendig will handle the Canton bankruptcy docket succeeding United States Bankruptcy Judge James H. Williams who retired in 1999. He was selected for the position by the Sixth Circuit from a field of 28 candidates. He will take the oath of office on February 28, 2001.
Judge Kendig is a 1980 graduate of Northwestern University and a 1984 honors graduate of Ohio State University Law School. Prior to his appointment, he practiced law in Canton and Chicago for 16 years. Judge Kendig's practice was primarily in bankruptcy where he served as a Chapter 7 panel trustee in business and personal bankruptcies.
Judge Kendig has served on the Perry Township Board of Zoning Appeals; is presently serving on the Board of Trustees of the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Stark County; and has served on the State Governing Board of Common Cause/Ohio. He is a member of the Ohio and Stark County Bar Associations and has served on the bankruptcy committee of each.
