About NextGen
The Federal Judiciary developed a Next Generation (NextGen) Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system that allows attorneys to use the same account for both PACER and electronic filing access. Attorneys are required to use their individual PACER login and password for access to the electronic filing system in NextGen Courts.
The U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Ohio (OHNB) is live with NextGen CM/ECF effective Monday, August 2, 2021.
There are two things you must do to access OHNB’s NextGen system:
- Upgrade your PACER account so that it is compatible with any court's NextGen system (We highly recommend that you complete this step as soon as possible.)
- Link your upgraded PACER account to OHNB’s CM/ECF system.
NextGen Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How Do I Know If My PACER Account Has Been Updated or Not?
Please see the How to Upgrade My PACER Account document for more information.
How Do I Link My PACER Account to OHNB's CM/ECF System?
Please see the How to Link My PACER Account to OHNB CM/ECF document.
What Should I Do If My Firm Currently Shares a PACER account?
Each person that will be e-filing in CM/ECF is required to have their own PACER account, which will be linked to your CM/ECF e-filing account. You can register for new PACER accounts on their website: https://pacer.uscourts.gov
Can We Combine the Billing for Multiple PACER Accounts?
Yes, you can request a PACER Administrative Account (PAA) from the PACER Service Center. A PAA account allows you to manage multiple accounts and pay for all charges associated with the multiple accounts. The PAA account will not allow you to access case information, it only allows for account management. To register for a PAA, click the following link: https://pacer.uscourts.gov/register-account/group-billing.
To get more information about the PAA, please read the PAA User Manual, or review the PAA Frequently Asked Questions page on PACER's official website.
